Ecosistema Artificial Sonoro (2021, 2023)
Artificial Sonorous Ecosystem
Generative Installation / Data SonificationThe Artificial Sonorous Ecosystem is a life simulator that manifests through sound. In this digital environment, autonomous organisms experience cycles of birth, maturation, and death, directly influenced by real-time environmental variables.
Factors such as temperature, humidity, wind speed, air quality, lunar phase, and the position of celestial bodies dictate the behavior of the system. Each organism possesses unique life cycles and sonic behaviors that contribute to the installation's evolving soundscape.
This project invites participants to blur the boundaries between the organic and the artificial, fostering a deeper understanding of how our senses can be expanded through electronic means. It demonstrates how technology can materialize planes of reality that usually remain invisible—such as the digital layer where these autonomous entities exist.
Interactive Interface
Beyond the physical installation, the ecosystem exists as a web interface. By interacting with this digital window, users can visualize the organisms in real time and "touch" them to isolate their individual sounds, transforming the experience into a deep listening exercise. This dynamic challenges users to identify and distinguish singular voices within the complex auditory landscape.
The installation operates through a custom generative algorithm designed to adapt to the immediacy of atmospheric conditions. It exists in two versions: In situ (physical installation reacting to local sensors) and Virtual (web-based system reacting to API weather data).
