Regresión Onírica (2019)
Oneiric Regression
Net Art / Generative Sound / NLPOneiric Regression (2019) is a web-based piece that functions as a semantic transducer, converting the testimony of a dream into sonic metaphors. By symbolically deconstructing the narrative, the system generates music that allows the visitor to relive, reframe, or explore the oneiric experience—whether their own or those written by others.
Interactive Interface
The project operates on the premise that the language we use to describe any experience is inherently metaphorical. The more words and semantic fields used to describe the dream, the richer the resulting sonic experience becomes—effectively creating a "metaphor of the metaphor."
Born from the exploration of generative music through Natural Language Processing (NLP), the piece processes an audio corpus comprising Creative Commons files and field recordings captured between 2017 and 2019 in Mexico, the United States, and Japan using a Samsung Galaxy S8.
However, the attempt to drag the dream into the waking state is marked by an inevitable failure of replication. We fail to produce a copy, yet in this failure lies a generative success: the creation of an autonomous entity rooted in the semantic core of the testimony. The work reveals a new layer of the narrative previously hidden within its semantics, emerging not as a memory, but as a new, distinct entity.
